What is the Fear & Greed Index?
The Fear & Greed Index summarizes the market's emotional state on a 0–100 scale. It combines five measures taken from price and volume — overbought/oversold extremes, momentum, volume, volatility, and market structure — into one number. Extreme fear (below 25) often precedes a bounce; extreme greed (75 and above) often precedes a pullback. Treat it as a contrarian timing tool, not a trade signal on its own.

Maximum euphoria. Historically a topping zone — consider trimming or tightening stops.

Every 15 minutes. Each pass re-scores an asset from its latest candles, so a reading you see is at most one cycle behind the market.
How is this different from CNN's Fear & Greed Index?
CNN's index covers US equities. Flicker scores each asset individually rather than publishing one market-wide number, so you get a reading for the specific coin you hold instead of an average across the market.
What data goes into the score?
Five inputs, all derived from price and volume: how overbought or oversold the market is (the largest weight, 30%), momentum, volume, volatility, and market structure. The same weights apply to every asset — a coin, a stock and a currency pair are scored identically.
How should I use it in trading?
Treat it as a contrarian filter, not a trigger. Combine extreme readings with your own technical setup — a buy signal in the extreme-fear zone is far more reliable than the same signal in greed territory.
